Our Staff - Dr. Melissa Allen
Dr. Allen was born in Indianapolis and raised in many states due to being the daughter of a military man. After working as a paramedic, she decided to become a physician. She graduated from the University of Louisville in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree and received her Medical Degree from UofL as well in 2003. She completed her residency at the University of Louisville in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2007. She is a tried and true “Cards Fan”.
Ob/Gyn Associates of Southern Indiana would like to welcome Dr. Allen back to Floyd County. She joins their practice in August of 2017. Dr. Allen practiced in both Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana before working as an OB hospitalist in Louisville, KY for the past few years.
Dr. Allen has been a certified Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 2008 and maintains current certification. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. She is a member of the Floyd County Medical Society and the Indiana State Medical Association.
Dr. Allen resides in New Albany with her husband, two children, two dachshunds and a cat. In addition to family activities, she is active with church activities and enjoys participating in her children’s school, theater, reading and playing with her dachshunds.
